Lately I've been really anxious about all the bad I'm seeing in the world. How 'bout you?
Maybe I'm not alone and you've been feeling this way as well. At first I thought it was "worry" that I was experiencing, but then I realized that it was "impatience". Being a new Christian (since 2016) I'm really excited about the time when we'll be taken out of this Earth to be with Jesus, or the "Rapture". "After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." - 1 Thessalonians 4:17
I decided to search the Bible to see what God says about us being PATIENT. I found a lot of good passages, and I'll list them below, but my most favorite is: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
After doing a bit of research on this topic I realized that if God has "PLANS", and I need to just TRUST HIM, then there must be things I can be doing for HIM while I'm waiting, and I should just NOT focus on the bad I see going on around me, but FOCUS instead on what I can be doing for God! Check out the great images I found on the internet referring to these GREAT Bible verses!
"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,"- Galatians 5:22
"But they, that wait upon the LORD, shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." - Isaiah 40:31
"I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope." - Psalm 130:5
In English, a common expression for being angered is to "get hot under the collar," or to be "steaming mad." Echoing the beginning of the Psalm, King David tells his audience not to be agitated (or fret) over the earthly prosperity of the wicked.
"Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper, or fret about their wicked schemes." - Psalm 37:7
"The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him." - Lamentations 3:25
“Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!” - Psalm 27:14
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6
"When we question God’s timing, it is often because we are looking for guidance or deliverance from a difficult situation. We can rest assured, however, that our heavenly Father knows exactly where we are in our lives at every moment. He either put us there or is allowing us to be there, all for His own perfect purpose.
One would think, then, that by understanding the sovereignty of our Creator, patience and waiting would come a little more easily. Unfortunately, however, that’s not always the case. Our human nature can make waiting for God’s perfect timing a difficult thing to do. In fact, in the hustle and bustle of our frenzied lives, we often find it difficult to wait for anything or anyone. We want what we want now. And with our modern technological advances, we’re often able to get what we want now. As a result, we are not only losing our patience, but also finding it increasingly difficult to discern God’s timing."
I hope this examination into PATIENCE or WAITING ON GOD has helped you a bit. I think I have a better understanding in how waiting on someone means that you can or want to trust in them. Basically you need to examine whether you trust God or not! And if not why? Maybe you haven't spent enough time in the Holy Bible. Ever since becoming a Christian I spend time in the Bible everyday so I can hear God's WORDS. If you don't I suggest you start.
I've attached links to the Bible verses in case you want to read the verses before or after the listed verses. Whenever you want to do some Bible study it's best to read 2-3 verses before and after verses to understand the context of the verses. The meaning would change if you don't understand the context. Below I attached links to BibleHub.com and GotQuestions.com as well as the links in the words.
