Holy Bible

God wanted us to know what He thought after we left the Garden of Eden and so He decided to give us The Holy Bible because He knew that since sin had entered the world we were going to have a REALLY TOUGH TIME not doing whatever Satan wanted us to do. Temptation was going to be REALLY BAD. Therefore God used people over time that would be willing to listen to God and write down what He said. Before the Bible was written God used Prophets to tell people what God thought. Finding the right people to be God's spokesmen was tricky because God needed people that would be humble and selfless.

Ten Commandments
Ten Commandments

But before working with Humans to get His Laws in Man's hearts and minds God wrote first ten commandments on stone. These stones were to be called the Ten Commandments.

Exodus 34:27-28 "Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write these words, for according to the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments."

Ever since sin entered the world God has been trying to get mankind to do what's right but it hasn't been going so well. After a very short time God saw that humans were doing so bad that God had to restart the world with destroying most of mankind except for Noah's family on the Ark.

"Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent[d] of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." - Genesis 6:5-8

Then after the Global Flood it didn't take long for mankind to get corrupted again. God decided He will send Jesus down to Save mankind. Jesus had to be crucified, killed, and take on our Sins so that people could be good enough to go to Heaven when we die. Since God was only GOOD God could not accept people in Heaven that were filled with sin.

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." - 2 Corinthians 5:21

Since becoming Christians Bob and I have been reading the Bible everyday in order to get God's Wisdom in our hearts and minds. I've learned that the different translations are so that the reader feels comfortable with the type of wording being used but does not change the meaning of the words. I realize now that just being morally upstanding wasn't enough. I've learned that Moral Relativism is what Bob and I were relying on for correct behavior. I didn't know what the Bible said. I knew of the Ten Commandments growing up but wasn't raised with the Bible and so I didn't know what God wanted of us and why. We were trying to live an upstanding life but now I know that just doing "what's right" is relative and people can disagree with what that means. When Bob and I had our children instead of reading the Bible stories to the kids at bedtime what we did was take them to the church we were attending, Unity Church of Christianity, and once we were in Australia, and could not attend the church, I had the children take turns reading passages out of the Daily Word magazine. But I know now that having spent SO MANY YEARS not knowing what the Bible said made me VERY eager to share what I learned about Christianity and Jesus with other people. Plus, it makes me wonder if it's wasn't Jesus plan for my life to go the way it did so He would have me wanting to share my Faith with others.

Now that Jesus came down and was crucified for everybody the challenge God has now is to get people to: recognize what Jesus did for us; repent what sins we have committed, and dedicate our lives to living righteously. Below is the Sinner's Prayer, would you like to say it?:

"God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!" - GotQuestions.org

I think it sounds more simple than it is. People still want to be in control and don't want to stop sinning. Something that brings me peace when I think of this after sinning is that it only takes one step back in the direction towards Jesus by asking for forgiveness and turning away from bad behavior. We need to ask Jesus to help us so that we don't sin again. After I do something wrong, and acknowledge it, asking for forgiveness from Jesus is the hard part because I feel sad for sinning. But I think what's even harder is forgiving myself. But then I have to remind myself that it's God's Grace and Mercy that give us God's forgiveness and another chance. God knows sin is in our DNA now and so we can't help it, and that's why He had the plan to send Jesus down to take on our sins. Just like He wants us to forgive others, we, too, have to forgive ourselves. We have to remember God forgives us if we ask for forgiveness.

I hope I have helped you with understanding the importance of the Bible. I know now that being aware of what God thinks is very important in order to traverse this world. God didn't intend for us to go through life without His help.

"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." - 1 Corinthians 10:13
