I have a wonderful topic to discuss today! My husband, Bob, is in charge of a Bible Study for a Men's Shelter near our home, and he creates a new Bible Study every week for the guys. (It's a requirement for them to live at this house.) Once Bob showed me the Power Point of the "Christian Road Map" he just did I knew in a moment I had to talk about it on my site. This presentation is a lot like the movie The Pilgrim's Progress. I've attached a link to that post that I did in the title or you can select it at the bottom of this post.

Part 1 of 2 - Eternity Past to Today

In this first slide below Bob describes the big events the Bible says that happened from before God created everything until now. Click on the picture to see the whole document. I will include a link to BibleHub.com for verses Bob refers to below and in the document attached.

Creation until now

1. God’s pre-existence

  • God existed prior to His creation: (Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created…”)

  • God created everything so nothing could have existed before Him: (Colossians 1:16: For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.)

God

2. God created the angels

3. Lucifer sins prior to creation of Man

slide 3
Satan is Cast out of Heaven

4. God created the physical realm

Jesus affirmed God as creator: (Matthew 19:4-5)

Consider this:

  • 3.2 Billion lines of digital code in each DNA string in each human cell. Considering the complexity of DNA this is statistically impossible to happen by accident.

  • Our solar system is so finely tuned for life that if any of the many variables were even slightly different, life could not exist.

  • The Big Bang Theory combined with expanding universe, demonstrate everything was created from nothing.

Big Bang

5. Adam contaminated God’s creation with Sin

slide 5
Adam Sinned

6. The Global Flood

  • Remove sin from mankind (Man’s hearts were filled with only evil)

  • Jesus believed the Flood occurred

"Consider this: 1) Polystrate (tree) fossils could only be from a flood as trees will not withstand millions of years of exposure. 2) Wildly bent sedimentary rock layering without cracking means these commonly found layering had to be wet simultaneously and bent prior to becoming rock." - Bob

7. Tower of Babel

  • After the flood: The people stayed in one place and commenced building a tower to demonstrate their greatness. This defied God’s command to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth (Genesis 9:1)

  • What else: The people believed they were equal to God - pride: (Genesis 11:1-4)

  • God’s punishment: God “confused” their languages after which they spread out into many communities around the world: (Genesis 11:5-9)

"Consider this: U.K Researchers determined language families of today trace back to multiple unrelated parent languages—exactly what one would predict from the Babel account." - Bob

8a. Jesus (“The lamb of God”) - John 1:29

  • Long before Jesus – While they were captive in Egypt God commanded the Jews to apply blood of a “spotless” lamb around the doorway of their homes so the angel of death would see and pass over, not killing their first born son. This was Man’s sacrificial Lamb for forgiveness: (Exodus 11-12:29)

  • Not long after the first Jewish Passover - The Jews had sinned again and many were being bitten by deadly serpents as punishment. Moses requested forgiveness and God told him to create a bronze snake and lift it high up on a tree. Whoever had faith in God’s remedy and looked upon the bronze snake survived the venom. (Numbers 21:5-9)

  • 1,500 years later - Jesus was born of a Virgin. We read that Jesus’ father was the Holy Spirit making Jesus free of the spiritually inherited sin from Adam (“spotless”): (Matthew 1:18)

  • When Jesus was 33 years old - He was scourged, then nailed to tree timber and raised up for all to see on the first day of the annual Passover celebration. He became the “spotless Lamb of God” and as the bronze snake was God’s cure for snake venom, Jesus became God’s cure for our spiritual sin. (John 1:29, John 1:36, Isaiah 53:10, Romans 8:3, Acts 2:38)

8b. Jesus, “The Messiah” and “The Son of God”

  • God’s final anointed one (Messiah) prophecy: The Messiah would be a Hebrew man born in Bethlehem of a virgin, a prophet akin to Moses, a priest in the order of Melchizedek, a king, and the Son of David who suffered before entering His glory. Jesus met each of these messianic requirements. (Isaiah 7:4, Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 11:1-4, 53, Micah 5:2, Deuteronomy 18:18, Psalm 110:4, Matthew 22:42)

  • Jesus, the Son of God: Unlike Moses, Jesus didn’t just represent God—He is God. Jesus doesn’t just lead us to the Promised Land; He takes us up to heaven for eternity. For these and many more reasons, Jesus is a prophet greater than Moses. (John 10:30 & John 14:1-3)

In this next slide Bob laid out what the Bible says is coming next!

On the lines with writing Bob lays out that the Bible says every person has a choice to make (free will), of what's going to happen to them. God considers Sin to be VERY SERIOUS and that's why after a couple of tries (Garden of Eden, flood) to educate people Jesus came to make a way for everybody to go to Heaven once they die, and to be with God for Eternity. But if that's not your choice you can windup in Hell. Since God is Love, and Satan rebelled, Satan was cast out of Heaven with 1/3 of the Angels that wanted to follow Satan/Lucifer. Even the Angels had free will. A lot of people think God is cruel to send people to Hell but what they don't understand is that God is only GOOD and can't be around Sinners, but if you ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins, acknowledge that He came to die for us on the cross to take on our sins, and trust Him, you can go to Heaven after you die. Jesus came to take on our Sins so we would be SAVED! Jesus came to show sinners what He/God wants and proved He was God by healing people.

Our Life Today/ Present time: "The Christian Bible is the only theology in the world

Our Life Today

possessing many hundreds of prophecies all of which have been fulfilled with exception of those reserved for the current and future time. One recently fulfilled prophecy occurred in 1948 when Israel was re-constituted as a nation. There are in the range of 800 prophecies in the Bible so I had to select only a few that would provide a bit of a guide as to where we are headed as a people." - Bob

9. Rapture

  • Rapture in the Bible: The original writing of the New Testaments was in Greek. The Greek term Harpazo was used to describe believers who will be snatched away from Earth by Jesus prior to the 7-year tribulation (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 & 1 Corinthians 15:50-54). The Greek term “Harpazo” is Rapturo in Latin. The English word rapture eventually came from the Latin.

  • Other references to rapture

1 Thessalonians 1:9-10 (…Jesus will deliver us from the wrath to come.)

1 Thessalonians 5:1-9 (…for God did not appoint us to wrath…)

Revelation 3:10 (…I will keep you from wrath…)

(And a couple others: John 21:22-23, 2 Peter 2:6-9)

slide 9

10. Death

  • At the time of death - Our spirit separates from the body: (2Timothy 4:6, 2Peter 1:13, Matthew 10:28)

  • Believers - Immediately after death the souls of believers enter into a state of blessedness with Christ in Heaven: (Revelation 14:13, Psalm 49:15 & 73:24, Luke 23:1, Acts 7:59, Hebrews 12:23)

  • Non-Believers (Lost) - The souls of the wicked, immediately after death, enter into a state of misery. (1 Peter 3:19, 20 & Luke 16:19-31)

slide 10
Romans 6:23

11. 7-Year tribulation

  • Tribulation is a time God punishes mankind for sin: Celestial disturbances, natural disasters, terrible plagues, and much more. (Zephaniah 1:15-16, Revelation Ch 6-16)

  • Tribulation in prophecy: (Isaiah 2:12, Deuteronomy 4:30, Matthew 24:21, Daniel 12:1, Zephaniah 1:15-16)

  • Saved during Tribulation: Those becoming disciples of Jesus before the tribulation were raptured, many do become disciples during tribulation although in un-pleasant circumstances: (Revelation 7:14, 13:7 & 20:9)

  • Culmination of tribulation: Satan (Lucifer) is defeated in the battle at Armageddon and bound in hell for 1,000 years (Revelation Chapters 16-19)

slide 11

12. With Jesus in Heaven

  • The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”: (Romans 6:23)

  • Faith & Forgiveness: Those having true faith in Jesus and humbly pray for forgiveness will go to heaven: (1 John 5:13, John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 5:6-8, Luke 23:39-43, Luke 16:22, Revelation 6:9)

  • Jesus said He is the only way: “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me.” – Jesus (John 14:6)

slide 12
In Heaven with Jesus

13. Non-believers eventually go to an eternal Hell

  • What is Hell: Jesus described it as a lake of fire (Revelation 20:15), eternal torment without rest (Revelation 14:11), A place of weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:50).

  • Hell is eternal: Matthew 25:41 & 46, Daniel 12:2, @Thessalonians 1:9, Revelations 14:10-11 & 20:10

  • Hell comes immediately following death for non-believers: Luke 16:19-31

slide 13
Hell for Non-Believers

14. Jesus reigns for 1,000 years on earth to fulfil all remaining Messianic prophecies

  • Fulfillment of prophecy: (Isaiah 2:4)

  • The world lives in peace: (Isaiah 11:6-9, 32:18)

  • Satan is bound during this time: (Revelation 20:1-3)

  • Everyone on earth worships God: (Isaiah 2:2-3)

  • Satan is released from hell at the end of the 1,000 years. He deceives many to join in an attack against Jesus and the believers however the deceived are destroyed go to hell: (Revelation 20:7-10). No explanation is given in the bible as to why God released Satan but one day we may understand.

With Jesus in Heaven

15. New heaven and new earth and God walks with man as originally intended

  • Current Heaven and Earth will pass away: Mark 13:31

  • New Heaven and new earth: Revelation 21:2,5 & 22:2,3, Isaiah 65:17 & 66:22, 2Peter 3:13

  • God is with man for eternity: Revelation 21:3 & 22:3-4
