Today I want to share my thoughts on Self-Care because I think it's something that is overlooked or forgotten in the way people live their busy lives, and discuss why it's so important. I say "Temple of God" because we were made in the Image of God, which means with the Holy Spirit within us. We must therefore take care of our bodies and our minds.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7

Below I've collected different images that all represent, in my mind, caring for yourself. I've found images that show getting exercise, eating healthy, laughing with others, praying with others before meals, attending a church service, playing a game with someone else, being there when someone needs to be comforted, and getting enough sleep. If you were to take one of these things all by itself it wouldn't be enough but combined it results in a life the way Jesus tried to teach. "We are to love others as yourself" as Jesus showed us. I think the part of this verse that people forget is really important "as yourself". If you don't love yourself first how can you love others?

Another thought that just came to me is would you take care of your car but not drive it? Then the same goes with your body. Most people think of eating and sleeping as necessary but do people think of exercise as necessary? I find that I either can't sleep or don't sleep well at night unless I exercise during the day. How bout you?

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. ’This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ - Matthew 22:37-39
