When I was growing up my family attended the Catholic Church. But after my parents were divorced that ended. Divorce wasn't allowed in the Church unless the marriage was annulled. Annulled meant the marriage didn't happen and generally parents weren't interested in doing that if there were children. After the Catholic church my parents didn't seem to follow anything. Up to now I didn't know what Jesus did for us. I knew he was a baby in the Nativity scene at Christmas time but that's where he stayed in my mind. I never understood why he was on the cross. Plus, why would anybody want to look at a man nailed to a cross?

 

Next thing that happened to me, spiritually speaking, was Transcendental Meditation (T.M.). My Uncle told my mother about it and said it would reduce the stress in our life and so she had us all "initiated", or taught how to do it. This happened before my parents were divorced and so I just hoped it would make my parents stop fighting. I always joked afterwards, to my friends, it did - they got a divorce - not what I wanted. In order to survive my childhood and all the fighting I tried doing whatever made my parents happy. Eventually I went to a College that taught the T.M. Advanced technique or "Yogic Flying". I wanted to learn to "fly". At this same time Christopher Reeves' "Superman" came out and I wanted to fly like him. Naïve much? I learned the T.M. advanced technique at MIU but "flying" is not what I learned.

 

After college I made my way to Washington D.C. to live in a T.M. Community and to find a job with my Computer Science degree. I found a place to live with a family that rented out the bedrooms in the house to boarders to pay their mortgage. At the house is where I met my future husband "Bob".  Bob and I became best friends. Our pasts were very similar and so we had a lot in common. Bob helped me get acquainted with the D.C. area. After two months Bob popped the question and I accepted. We then moved into an apartment of our own in the Arlington Virginia area. Bob was given a really good opportunity, soon after we were married, to work in Katy, Texas for Oceaneering and so we headed to Texas.

 

After arriving in the Houston area we met other meditators that told us about a Church they were attending and we were getting thirsty for fellowship and friends and so we went to check it out. The thing I liked about the Church was it had "Christianity" in the name and that matched my idea of what I thought I was - a Christian. In reality I didn't know how wrong I was. This Church opened me up to all things New Age and I loved it. Eventually Bob and I started our family and I wanted to raise our children in this Church so that they would grow up knowing and loving God.

 

Bob got another job, with the oil and gas industry, and soon after starting with them they sent him to England. On this trip to England Bob found Jesus. One night at his hotel Bob called out to Jesus asking for help with his life because he was getting really stressed from his job. After sleeping longer than he had in years, Bob woke feeling rested and as a result surrendered his heart to Jesus. This is when Jesus and Bob had a talk and Bob asked Jesus what He wanted him to do. Jesus told Bob to go find a church with people that believed in him, begin reading the Bible, and begin praying to Him on a regular basis. Bob came home from that trip rejuvenated and ready to follow Jesus for the rest of his life. 

 

After Bob told us what happened to him in England, our family all decided to follow Jesus and find a Church to attend. In 2018 I decided I would use my Computer skills and create a Website to try to reach and tell people about Jesus and what he did for us. My website has taken some transformations since than but I'm trying and will keep trying to reach people for Jesus. Recently I've realized that this Website/Blog is mainly about how I'm following Jesus Christ, and in so offering insights to others of what I've found.

 

If you don't know what Jesus did for us I suggest you get a Bible and start reading for yourself! Jesus died on a cross to take on our sins so that we can go to Heaven after we die. Jesus also said that He would come back one day and take up His Church to be with Him in Heaven. Below are verses from the Holy Bible that mentions Jesus coming back for His Church.

 

"Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." - 1 Corinthians 15:51-52

 

"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words." - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

 

Don't worry about what you have or don't have here on Earth because things of this world will not go to Heaven after you die. As Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:19-21
